Before you start writing your own web-sites, make sure you have the following:

• an editor with which you can create HTML files - a simple text editor such as Notepad will do
• a browser that supports the latest HTML tags (Netscape 4.x and Internet Explorer 4.x or higher)
• a homepage provider that provides you with a server where you can store your web-site, such as Geocities or Tripod, and our personal favorite, Httpcity.Com. (although this is not required, you can store your homepage on your hard drive, even though nobody would be able to see it)
• an ftp client which you can use to transfer your web-site to an internet server
