These are some words you should know if you are interested in HTML.

HTML - HyperText Markup Language; the name of the language that is being used to write web-sites;

Server - A computer that can be accessed via the internet; this is where your homepage should be transferred to after you have finished coding it on your hard drive; every web-site resides on a server; there also many popular free servers who offer you a place to store your web-site such as Geocities or Tripod;

FTP Client - A program that is used to upload (transfer) files from your local hard drive to an internet server; two popular FTP Clients are CuteFTP and WS_FTP;

Browser - The programs that are used to access a web-site and display it in the correct format; what you are using to view this web-site is a browser; two popular browsers are Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer;

Editors - The programs that are used to create HTML files; there are many different kinds of editors with various extra features; an example of such an editor would be Notepad which is distributed with the Windows operating system;
